Brittany and Rudulfo Wedding // Long Beach, Calif.

I met Brittany a few years ago when I photographed her band, The Stupid Daikini and I always loved working with her! When she approached me about her wedding to Rudy I was thrilled and so so excited. The wedding was originally set for the summer of 2020 but postponed due to Covid, and then life happened and I ended up being 7 months pregnant for this event.

I was originally kind of nervous to work a full day on my feet at that stage of pregnancy. I’ve shot plenty of weddings and work in tv where I’m used to long days, but I’ve never been pregnant before, and without that prior experience, it was hard to plan ahead and keep the contract in place. Thankfully, Brittany and Rudy were still very interested in having me for the wedding, so I hired a second shooter just in case and went ahead with plans to shoot.

And BOY, am I glad I didn’t find a replacement. The wedding was beautiful and so well organized. Brittany and Rudy are clearly so in love and that’s what makes my job as the photographer so fun. And of course I was also obsessed with the interior of this venue — all those PLANTS! And the patterned tile in the main room was so incredible.

I’m honored that Brittany and Rudy trusted me to shoot their special day, especially with my big pregnant belly! It was definitely a more difficult gig on my end, but I am so proud of how well I did under the circumstances. And a special thanks to my second shooter for the day, Jessica.
